Rafael Ibarra Roque denounce beating received
at Combinado del Este.

In an accusation secretly removed from the prison
Combinado Del Este by the Presidio Político Pedro
Luis Boitel, Rafael Ibarra Roque, president of the
Democratic Party November 30 "Frank País", declares:
I denounce before the public opinion and the National
and International organizations and Defenders of human
rights, the violations perpetrated against my physical
integrity and carried out by penitentiary authorities
at Combinado del Este, and ordered by the State Security
of Cuba.
On October 17 of this year at 12:30 PM, they took me
with all my belongings to the office of Lieutenant Osbel,
Chief of Interior Order of Unit 2 of this prison. Chief
Saulón was also in the room and they roceeded to inform
me that they had orders to take me to a cell with 32 common
prisoners, by force if need be. When I refused, I was
handcuffed with my hands behind my back, all my belongings
were seized, and several guards were ordered to take me by
force to the cell.
They began pushing me and when I exercised resistance they
began hitting me, I was thrown to the floor and they began
kicking me, they dragged me through the floor to company
2114 of the first floor south, where they forced me into
the cell. Their kicks and punches left me lumps all over
my head. I have several hematomas in the back of my head,
my elbows and knees are bruised and peeled.
I have several hematomas behind my back, both of my elbows
and knees are bruised and peeled, I have no sensibility
in one of the fingers of my right hand, due to the tightness
of the handcuffs and the dragging of my body, after this
abuse I began a hunger strike which lasted 15 days.
I accuse Lieutenant Colonel Rojas of the State Security,
Lieutenant Colonel Carlos Quintana, Director of this Prison,
for they were the ones who ordered this brutal beating.
