Selective restrictions as evening falls in el
Vedado

HAVANA, CUBA - 30 of April - (Arturo Quesada Ortega/Puenteinfocubamiami.org)
– We are denouncing that upon the transmission of the televised soap
opera “The hidden face of the moon”, the government is implementing one
of the most humiliating and abusive regulations in the island, violating
one of the Articles of the Universal Declaration of the Human rights for
reasons of sexual orientation.
At the present time it totally prohibited for homosexual groups to
pacifically gather in Havana’s Malecón , place where they used to
massively gather to sing songs, exchange criteria and opinions and
remember happenings in their youthful trajectories.
Before, they used to gather at the corner of Yara and L (Vedado) where
they were barred by guards of the area, then they began gathering at the
cafeteria in the corner of 23 and P and again, they were banned from the
place.
Then they would walk over to the Bin Bom located in Infanta and L and
shortly after their arrival the State Security sent their officers to
also remove them from this place. In the end they would end they would
cross the street and gathered in the wall of 23 and Malecon where they
tried to enjoy and evening
They followed therefore the demonstration towards the Bin Bom of and in
the little Infant and 23 short while the Security of the State sent its
officials to that they removed them from this place. In the end they
jumped towards the sidewalk of the wall in 23 and Levee where they tried
to enjoy and to spend a pleasant evening without bringing attention to
themselves.
The government’s persecution of homosexuals reached an extreme that now
no group gathering is allowed in the Havana Malecón in the evening hours
and anyone in violation of this new ordinance will be fined $30.00; and
the individual will be registered by computer under code (3-10),
classification that falls under sexual crimes. Individuals caught for a
second time violating the ordinance will be taken to prison immediately,
because they will have a criminal record , as a common delinquent.
