A Tuberculosis outbreak in Ariza.
RANCHUELO, CUBA – April 8 (Felix Reyes Gutierrez/Puenteinfocubamiami.org)-
An outbreak of tuberculosis erupted in the Ariza prison at the end of March
of this year.
Ruperto Juan Alfonso Becerra, a member of the Political “Presidio”Pedro Luis
Boitel inside the prison, informed this agency over the telephone that there
are several prisoners with the above mentioned contagious disease.
Becerra noted that prisoner Hanle Acosta Abrahante who has the disease was
paroled by prison authorities. Never the less, prisoner Vencel Ruben Sierra
who also has TB is being treated at the prison’s infirmary along with two
other inmates with the same disease. And that inmate Roberto Duenas
Rodriguez went to the infirmary with all the symptoms of the disease but Dr.
Meliza Iglesias Rodríguez told him he had pneumonia and sent him back to his
cell.
Becerra finished saying that prison authorities have not taken any sanitary
precautions.
