Police operative
unleashed in Santa Clara
SANTA CLARA, CUBA - February 8 (Yoel Espinosa Medrano, Cubanacán
Press/Puenteinfocubamiami.org) - The presence of leaders of the peaceful
opposition in the city of Santa Clara, led to a strong police operative in
the central park "Leoncio Vidal ¨, last February 4t.
Upon learning of the arrival in Villa Clara of dissidents Marta Beatriz
Roque Cabello, Vladimiro Roca Antunez, Felix Bonne Carcases and Francisco
Chaviano Gonzalez, who went to the Provincial State Security to inquire
about the legal status of former political prisoner Jorge Luis Garcia
Perez Antunez, a group of members of the political police dressed in
civilian clothes formed a human chain in front of the radio station CMHW,
and called to the area members of the Association of Combatants of the
Cuban Revolution (ACRC),"Communist Party of Cuba (PCC),and the Union of
Young Communists (UJC).
Representatives of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC), along with members
of the Fast Response Brigade, Social Workers and even laborers who work in
the vicinity of the park showed up, all under the pretext that a group of
counter revolutionaries were trying to take over the provincial radio
station.
Oviel Amores Suarez, an employee at the Forum for Social Studies "Marta
Abreu" reported that all eleven entrances to the park were monitored by
patrol cars and vehicles of the Political police. He also noted that
dozens of bystanders like himself were expelled from the park by officers
of the National Revolutionary Police (PNR).
Roque Cabello, Roca Antunez, Bonne Carcases and Chaviano Gonzalez traveled
to the office of the State Security in Villa Clara to clarify Antunez´s
legal situation.
Last January 28th, Jorge Luis Garcia Perez Antunez was banned from paying
homage to Jose Marti and instead, he was arrested and charged with the
supposed offenses of public disorder and disobedience.
