Opponent in Cuba was savagely beaten.
CIENFUEGOS, CUBA - February 20 (Eusebio Perera /
www.plantados.org) - Last
Friday, February 8, at approximately 11 pm, a group of people gave a beating
to the Cuban political opponent and Plantados´s collaborator Ricardo Pupo
Sierra.
Pupo Sierra who was heading to his home located in Avenue 50 #1901, between
19 and 21, in Cienfuegos, was jumped by a group, all members of the Rapid
Response Brigade. They struck him several times while shouting at him ¨worm¨
and other offenses. The beating was such that he needed surgery to put a
bone of his right wrist back into place.
The police showed at the scuffle, they arrested Pupo and transferred him to
a police station where he stayed until well passed midnight when a district
attorney showed up at the station and charged him with a supposed crime of
¨public disorder¨, which carries a sentence of one year in jail.
