Cuban prisoner of conscience in punishment cell
tries to commit suicide.

HAVANA, CUBA- January 7 (René
Montes de Oca Martija, PDHDC/Puenteinfocubamiami.org) – The
prisoner of conscience Rolando Jimenez Posada began a hunger strike in the
middle of November of last year and as a consequence, on December 21, 2007
prison officials at the prison "El Guayabo", transferred him to a punishment
cell- completely naked- were he is subjected to live in inhumane conditions
and where most of the times officers do not even allow him water to drink.
Officers in "El Guayabo"constantly subject Rolando to constants psychological
tortures, reason that has driven Posada to commit suicide utilizing a
halogen lamp which he tore into pieces and used to mutilate his body.
Rolando Jimenez Posada resides in Calle 28A #5308 e/ 53 y 55, Nueva Gerona,
Isle of Pines..
Declared prisoner of conscience by Amnesty International, Rolando Jimenez
Posada was unjustly accused of revealing secrets of State, was tried
secretly in December of 2006 and sentenced to 12 years in prison and is
serving his sentence in the prison "El Guayabo" in the Isle of Pines.
