Brutal arrest of former political prisoner
Raul Federico Caballero Rodriguez, also representative for “Plantados” in
the Camaguey province.
CAMAGUEY, CUBA, January 15 (Gladys Castello /www.plantados.org )-
Yesterday, January 14th, at approximately 2 p.m. about eight officers of the
Cuban State Police in conjunction with the National Police stormed inside
the home of the former political prisoner and representative in Camaguey of
“Plantados Hasta La Libertad y La Democracia en Cuba Raul Federico Caballero
Rodríguez.
The family inside the home was forced to remain sitting while the search
took place. The police arrested Mr. Rodriguez and confiscated documents.
Gladys Castello, the 68 year old wife of Raul lost consciousness due to a
high blood pressure attack caused by such a raid.
When Gladys came to, she telephoned the offices of Plantados Hasta la
Libertad y la Democracia en Cuba and expressed to us their concern for her
husband’s health because he is an 86 year old man who suffers from high
blood pressure and she had no idea how he was.
Castello finished saying that her husband was taken to the Investigation
Center called Abellaneda.
