Employment contract was denied to a dissident.
SANTA CLARA, CUBA - January 30 (Yoel
Espinosa Medrano, Cubanacán Press /Puenteinfocubamiami.org) –On January
20th, directors of the Clinical Surgical Hospital "Arnaldo Milián Castro" in
Santa Clara, denied employment contract to dissident Jorge Luis Artiles
Montiel because he is a human rights activist.
According to Artiles Montiel, he applied to a
vacancy as internal assistant helper at the above mentioned hospital on
January 18th and he was hired. When he showed up for work on January 22nd, a
hospital official by the name of Carmen asked him if he was a human rights
activist and when he answered in the affirmative, she informed Montiel that
she could not hire him.
Jorge Luis Artiles Montiel was serving a four
year sentence, is currently a parolee and a judge can send him back to
prison if he is not employed by the State.
