RANCHUELO, CUBA - March 18 (Felix Gutierrez Reyes, Cubanacan Press / Puenteinfopcubamiami.org) - Nearly a dozen peaceful Cuban opponents paid tribute last March 12, in Santa Clara, to victims of the struggle against the Castro regime.

Jorge Luis Artiles Montiel, who attended the event at the local cemetery stated, that they paid tribute to Tomas San Gil alias El Puritano and his guerrilla group who died fighting on March 1st, 1963, at the Escambray, Las Villas province.

They sang the National Anthem with a burning candle, later, seven members representing the Cuban National Liberal Party, Civic Nationalist Movement, Plantados until the Liberty and Democracy in Cuba and the Political Presidio “Pedro Luis Boitel”, conducted a recount of the events that occurred in the above mentioned date.

Finally, the former political prisoner and president of the Civic Nationalist Movement Idalberto Gonzalez Gomez read the names of the 14 courageous fighters who were killed by the Castro regime in the 60’s, and requested a minute of silence in their memory.
