They inaugurated an independent library in Santa
Clara.
RANCHUELOS, CUBA - March 19 (Felix Gutierrez Reyes, Cubanacán Press /
Puenteinfocubamiami.org)-On March 11th, the thirty first independent library
in the province of Villa Clara was inaugurated; named the Ramon Leocadio
Bonachea Independent Library.
The activity began at 3 PM with the notes of the National Anthem. Soon
thereafter the Provincial Coordinator of the Cuban Independent Libraries (PBIDC),
Yoel Espinosa Medrano spoke on the importance the independent library
project had on the Cuban people’s journey to democracy, by providing
literature on this subject which is censored by the Cuban government.
During the ceremony, Guillermo Farinas Hernandez and Idania Yanez Contreras
the later, director of the Alternative Reading Center in Villa Clara gave to
the director of the Alternative Reading Center copies of the books “Written
without Permission”, and “A Perspective of Cuba Today”, written by Manuel
Vazquez Portal and Vladimiro Roca Antunez.
The Independent Library contains approximately 230 independent titles,
classified on topics of politics, history, literature, economic and
religion. The independent library is located at Street extension # 12 A ,
between Marta Abreuy and Plaza “Ernesto Che Guevara “ in Street Extension
between Marta Abreu and Plaza "Ernesto Che Guevara", Santa Clara.
Participated in the activity 14 activists representing the Human Rights
Rafters Association Peace, Democracy and Liberty, Democracy Movement, Cuban
Nationalist Movement, members of the Political Presidio “Pedro Luis Boitel”,
Plantados until the Liberty and Democracy in Cuba as well as members of the
independent Press Agencies “Villa Clara” and “ Cubanacan Press”.
