Cuba Miami News Bridge was founded on April 1st, 2000, and has been daily in
the internet since the 3rd day of August 2001, giving professional
information on Cuba and its context, for the Cuban government suppresses all
forms of free expression of its people, denying them among other things
access to the Internet.
Our main function is create a space for a better understanding of the
Cuban reality, by providing independent journalists, human rights activists
and other groups of the Cuban civil society with a vehicle so that their
voices can be heard, considering that they have no possibilities of
publishing their work and articles of opinion in Cuba or abroad. We also
send copies of newspaper articles, updated information on democracy, health
issues and educational material to our Contacts in the Island.
We receive via telephone and by fax from all parts of the Island articles
and other publications from Independent Journalists, Independent Writers,
Activists of the Human rights, and members of the civil society, all of whom
provide the non governmental version of the events and the reality of the
Cuban people.
Their work is transcribed, and translated by volunteers. They are true
soldiers of democracy, defenders of the right every human being has to
express him or herself freely.
We publish their information in Spanish and English in our website and also
distribute their news, articles and information to the national and
international press, human rights organizations, educational institutions
and public in general via Internet.
On October 10, 2005, a group of cuban independent journalists founded in the
Isle of Pines the Cuba Miami Independent News Bridge Bureau, now with
branches in provinces all over the Island.
Cuba Miami News Bridge /Puente Informativo Cuba Miami, appears as source of
information on the Cuban reality in yearly Partial Reports on Human Rights
Violations in Cuba, and in prestigious digital newspapers, magazines and
other publications.
Our mission is to support the Cuban civil society in their quest for the
freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and the rule of law, and to help
guarantee that these fundamental rights always exist without limitations in
Cuba.
